I grew up with traditional religious and political views but I have become ever more inclusive of diverse perspectives and more radical in the sense that I want to find ways to l free us from our deepest inhibitions to natural happiness. For the past thirty years, I have especially centered my study and work around the practice of Insight Meditation. And I strive to apply the insights we can derive from our deep personal/spiritual experience toward enriching our intimate relationships and actively alleviating structures of social, economic, sexual, racial, and political, oppression, and most importantly, caring more deeply for the earth, our home.
I am a Unitarian Universalist Minister and formerly served a number of congregations. More recently, I served as a psychotherapist on the staff of the DiMele Center for Psychotherapy and Healing in NYC. Following this work, I founded my own Allen Wells Center for Psychotherapy and Healing in Morristown, N.J. which became a center for personal growth, wellness practice and spiritual direction, that included teachers in many diverse alternative modalities of healing and self-transformation.
In addition to academic training at The Divinity School and Counseling Center of the University of Chicago, I hold a post-graduate certificate in Counseling from the Blanton Peale Institute in NYC, and two years in the School of Social Work at New York University. Most recently I am a graduate of the Integrative Study Practice Program of The Barre Center for Buddhist Studies, Barre, Massachusetts..
I have also spent many years training in alternative therapies ranging from holotropic breath work, to shaminism, to TFT, and Family Constellation Therapy.
I haven't written any books though because I would rather spend the time ballroom dancing.
